  • Federico Villafranco trains privately for Danny Caldwell, Oaklawn’s leading owner in 2014, ’15, ’16 and ’17. Villafranco was Oaklawn’s fifth-leading trainer in 2018 with 20 victories.
  • Villafranco recorded his first Oaklawn stakes victory ($125,000 Fifth Season) in 2017 with Domain’s Rap, claimed for $10,000 in November 2015 at Remington Park. Domain’s Rap also finished second in the $750,000 Oaklawn Handicap (G2) in 2017.
  • Helped Caldwell to his personal Triple Crown in 2014-2017, as he finished leading owner at Oaklawn, Prairie Meadows and Remington Park.
  • Caldwell and Villafranco, who began training on his own in 2004, are aggressive in claiming, but several of their claims have gone on to win stakes. In addition to Domain’s Rap, Fifth Date was claimed for $18,000 and two starts later won the $156,000 Oklahoma Classic Cup in 2016. Dancin’ Lil, a $20,000 claim, won the $100,000 Saylorville Stakes in 2014 and Diamond Disco won the $115,000 Oklahoma Classic Distaff Sprint in 2014 after being claimed for $30,000.
  • Won six races at the 2013 Oaklawn meeting, his first while training privately for Caldwell. Villafranco won 25 races in 2014, 18 in ’15, 22 in ’16 and 22 in ‘17 to finish fourth in the standings.
