Wayne Sanders and Larry Hirsch’s Donoharm extended his win streak to five by overpowering heavy 3-5 favorite San Pablo in the final strides of Saturday’s $100,000 Essex Handicap at Oaklawn. Smarty Jones Stakes runner-up Texas Bling showed that he’s ready to take the next step along the Derby trail in the Feb. 18 Southwest Stakes (G3) with a five-furlong workout in 1:00 4/5 Saturday morning with jockey Cliff Berry aboard. The workout was the second fastest of 74 at the distance, but the Too Much Bling colt appeared to be just galloping and was already asking for more by the time he got back to the barn. Read More

Apprehender Powers Home to Win King Cotton

Dream Farm LLC’s Apprehender, who briefly tested the waters in Oaklawn’s 2012 3-year-old stakes series, returned to Hot Springs for his 4-year-old debut and showed he’s much better suited for the sprint division with his victory in Saturday’s $60,000 King Cotton Stakes. Read More
