Unbeaten Promise Me Silver is scheduled to return to Oaklawn for the $100,000 Instant Racing Stakes for 3-year-old fillies April 11, trainer Bret Calhoun said Friday morning. Calhoun said he hopes to use the six-furlong Instant Racing as a prep for the $200,000 Eight Belles Stakes (G3) May 1 at Churchill Downs.

With 12 days remaining in the Oaklawn meet, the trainer whose equipment is splashed in blue, tops the standings. But, it isn’t Steve Asmussen, who is seeking his fourth consecutive title, and seventh since 2007. Wednesday’s double for Chris Hartman allowed him to break an 18-18 tie with Asmussen and reclaim the outright lead as Oaklawn’s season enters the stretch run.

OAKLAWN TO END MEET WITH THIRD PURSE INCREASE

In appreciation for the horsemen who have supported Oaklawn all season, purses will be raised between $1,000 and $2,000 each race for the remaining 10 days of the 2015 meet. This increase, which starts with the Saturday, March 28 card, marks the third time that purses have been raised since the beginning of the meet Jan. 15.
