Texas Chrome Pulls Off Super Derby Victory

Texas Chrome earned a preliminary Beyer Speed Figure of 96 for his half-length victory in the $400,000 Super Derby (G3) Saturday at Louisiana Downs. The Super Derby represented the first graded stakes victory, and sixth overall for Texas Chrome, and the first graded stakes victory for trainer J.R. Caldwell, an Oaklawn regular.

HOT SPRINGS, AR (Thursday, July 14, 2016) – Oaklawn’s marketing department received nine Romero Awards during the closing ceremonies of the Gaming Marketing & Technology Conference July 14 in Las Vegas, bringing its lofty total to 52 awards over the last seven years. Oaklawn was competing in the large gaming property category for just the second time as a result of its 2015 expansion, which increased the competition exponentially.

HOT SPRINGS, AR (Monday, June 13, 2016) – Oaklawn has been forced to cancel the John Kay and Steppenwolf Concert Friday, June 17 due to the illness of lead singer John Kay. The concert will not be rescheduled and all tickets will be refunded.
