Honey Bee Winner Cosmic Burst Makes Turf Debut Saturday

The runner-up in the $200,000 Honeybee Stakes (G3) for 3-year-old fillies March 10 at Oaklawn won her turf debut Wednesday at Canterbury Park. The Honeybee winner has a chance to do the same Saturday at Arlington Park, with Cosmic Burst entered in the $100,000 Pucker Up Stakes (G3), a 1 1/8-mile race that would mark the grass debut for the daughter of Violence.

Oaklawn-raced Elate Becomes Millionaire with Delaware Handicap Score

The key race of the 2017 Oaklawn meeting has now produced two millionaires following Elate’s victory in the $750,000 Delaware Handicap (G2) for older fillies and mares Saturday at Delaware Park. Elate, who was making her 4-year-old debut, was a 3 ¼-length winner under Jose Ortiz to push her career earnings to $1,270,325. A daughter of Oaklawn stakes winners Medaglia d’Oro and Cheery, Elate races for her breeders, Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider, and Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, Oaklawn’s leading trainer in 1986.
