It may not have felt much like Spring on the track, but it certainly didn’t bother the aptly named Spring Included who made winning her first career stakes race look easy when she prevailed in Saturday’s $100,000 Spring Fever Stakes by 1 ¾ lengths. Sent off as the 5-2 favorite off a runner-up effort last out in the American Beauty Stakes, the winner returned $7.20, $4 and $2.80.

TAKE TWO. FAR RIGHT STILL FAVORED IN REDRAWN SOUTHWEST STAKES

Oaklawn’s second major two-turn prep for 3-year-olds, the $300,000 Southwest Stakes (G3), will be run Sunday following a near-one-week delay because of winter weather. The 1 1/16-mile Southwest was originally scheduled for Monday, but it was postponed six days because of winter weather. Probable post time for the redrawn Southwest, which has a field of 11, is 4:42 p.m. (Central).

MUFAJAAH SCORES SECOND STRAIGHT WIN IN BAYAKOA

Following in the footsteps of Don’t Tell Sophia, who won both the Pippin and Bayakoa Stakes in 2013 and ’14, Shadwell Farms’ Mufajaah repeated her Pippin performance with an equally impressive win in Sunday’s $100,000 Bayakoa Stakes (G3). Thanks in part to Grade 1 winners Don’t Tell Sophia and Tiz Miz Sue, the 2013 runner-up, the Bayakoa carried graded status for the first time this year.
