HOT SPRINGS, AR (Friday, March 31, 2017) – Pop icons Olivia Newton-John and Kenny Loggins are among the acts highlighting Oaklawn’s 2017 Finish Line Theater Concert Series, which kicks off Friday, May 12 with The Righteous Brothers. The series will also feature the Happy Together Tour and Ronnie Milsap. Ticket prices for each show will vary.
“We’re excited to bring this unbelievable lineup to Oaklawn and the city of Hot Springs,” Marketing Director Kim Baron said. “From May through September we’re going to host some of the biggest names in music across several different genres. There’s going to be something for every type of music fan.”
With a string of #1 classics, including the most played song in radio history, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield topped the charts in four decades. After Bobby’s death in 2003, Bill Medley continued to perform to sold-out crowds around the world, but fans and friends pleaded with him to keep The Righteous Brothers alive. That led him to join forces with Bucky Heard and today, their concert experience features their biggest hits – “Lovin’ Feelin’,” “Soul & Inspiration,” “Unchained Melody,” “Rock and Roll Heaven,” Medley’s Grammy-winning Dirty Dancing theme “The Time of My Life,” and much, much more.
With a career spanning over five decades with more than 100 million albums sold, Olivia Newton-John’s successes include four Grammys, numerous Country Music, American Music, Billboard and People’s Choice Awards, an Emmy Award, ten #1 hits and more than 15 top 10 singles. She recently scored another #1 hit, this time on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi – becoming the first mother/daughter duo to top this chart. In 1978, her co-starring role with John Travolta in “Grease” catapulted Olivia into super-stardom and to date remains the most successful movie musical of all time. Newton-John will bring her tour to Oaklawn June 9.
Kenny Loggins’ remarkable four-decade-plus career has brought him from the top of the charts to the toast of the Grammys. He’s had smash hits on Hollywood’s favorite soundtracks, rocked worldwide stages, and found his way into audiences’ hearts while bringing his smooth, beautiful voice to platinum albums of a stunning variety of genres. Among his biggest hits include “Celebrate Me Home,” “I’m All Right,” “Footloose,” and “Danger Zone.” Loggins, who will be at Oaklawn July 28th, has also been onstage with his side project - Blue Sky Riders, which features Nashville powerhouse Gary Burr and gifted vocalist and singer/songwriter Georgia Middleman.
The Happy Together Tour returns to Hot Springs Aug. 18 and will feature the biggest hits of the era. Now in its 8th consecutive year, this year’s tour includes The Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie, The Association, Chuck Negron formerly of Three Dog Night, The Box Tops, The Cowsills and The Archies’ Ron Dante. The six artists have had 53 Billboard hits amongst them.
Closing out the 2017 Finish Line Theater Series Sept. 1 will be one of the most beloved names in country music, Ronnie Milsap. The six-time Grammy winner has compiled 40 #1 country hits, eight Country Music Association awards, including Entertainer of the Year; and four more Academy of Country Music trophies, including the lifetime honor, the Pioneer Award.
Doors will open for all shows at 6 p.m. – show times will be at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available online at www.oaklawn.com or by calling 501-623-4411 ex. 340.
