SUPERSTAR HORSES AND SUPERHEROES HIGHLIGHT MARCH AT OAKLAWN
Hot Springs, Ark. (Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017) – March is sure to be a super month at Oaklawn with star power abounding on the track and superheroes highlighting the gaming promotions. There will be the Super Squad Showdown Sunday, March 5 and Sunday, March 19 where guests will have their chance to play for their share of $6,000 each night. Winners will be called every 15 minutes between 2 and 5 p.m. and 6 and 9 p.m.
The luck of the Irish will be upon Oaklawn guests March 17 when we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Shamrock Shakeup from 5 p.m. to midnight. There will be a $4.99 Irish dinner in Lagniappes from 5-10 p.m., $2 Draft Beer and a $5,000 Free Play Drawing. The drawings will be held between 5 and 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight.
Looking to follow in the footsteps of American Pharoah and Creator, the best 3-year-olds in the country continue their journey towards the $1 million Arkansas Derby in the $900,000 Rebel Stakes (G2) March 18. The Racing Festival of the South Preview day will also be highlighted by the $200,000 Essex Handicap and $350,000 Azeri Stakes (G2), which are the final local preps for the $750,000 Oaklawn Handicap (G2) April 15 and $600,000 Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) April 14, respectively. First post is 1 p.m.
March 18 also marks the return of the “Park Inside the Park” as Oaklawn’s Infield will now be open for the final five Saturdays of the meet. Fans are invited bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the races from the infield where there will be a Beer Garden, Kids Zone and big screen TV.
Live racing continues every Thursday – Sunday until April 15. There will also be one Wednesday card April 12. First post is 1:30 p.m. weekdays and Sundays and 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Reel tournaments return to the game room in March with two exciting themes. There will be the Reel Hero Rumble tournament every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and the Starting Gate Riches tournament on Fridays at 4 p.m.
Forever Young for guests 55 and up has moved to Mondays all day. Guests can enjoy a $5 Silks menu, half-off Bloody Marys, five times the points and more.
Also, patrons who earn 10 points on Mondays and Tuesdays can enjoy a 99-cent pasta buffet at Endless Pastabilitles every Tuesday night from 5–10 p.m. Oaklawn’s $1.99 Steak Night is every Thursday night from 5–10 p.m. Come out and enjoy Hot Springs' finest steaks, hand-cut from USDA Choice Beef. This succulent filet is served with a gourmet salad and sides. This fantastic meal is yours for only $1.99 when you earn 70 points on your Winners Circle card the previous Friday through Thursday.
Winner Circle cardholders who have birthdays in March can enjoy a Birthday Bash on Sunday, February 26 where there will be a birthday cake and refreshments in Lagniappe’s and a $10,000 drawing.
