Oktoberfest and Halloween Party Also Highlight Action-packed Month

HOT SPRINGS, AR (Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015) – October will be a Spooktacular month at Oaklawn from start to finish highlighted by the Jeepers Creepers promotion. One lucky guest will walk away every Sunday with a new Jeep from Tim Parker Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram of Hot Springs. Oaklawn will be calling two qualifiers every 15 minutes from 3 – 8 p.m. and the final giveaway will be at 8 p.m. Patrons receive one entry for earning 10 points between Sunday and Saturday each week and will receive an additional entry for every 25 points earned.  

Oaklawn kicks off the month in style with an Oktoberfest celebration Saturday, Oct. 3 from 5 – 10 p.m. There will be $5,000 worth of prize drawings, a $4.99 German buffet in Lagniappes, $2 Oktoberfest drafts and live entertainment. Guests can start picking up their entries for the prize drawings at 5 p.m. at the Winners Circle desk.

Oct. 31 is sure to be a spooky good time when guests will have the opportunity to show off their creative side with Halloween costumes. There will be $1,000 on the line for the best costume at 8 p.m. as well as prize drawings from 5 p.m. to Midnight. Patrons can come early and enjoy $2 drafts and free hot dogs from 5 – 7 p.m. while supplies last. No full head masks or toy weapons will be allowed.

Racing fans have the biggest two days in Thoroughbred racing to look forward Oct. 30 and 31 with the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championship at Keeneland and Oaklawn will have the complete simulcast. There will be a lot of local rooting interest, especially with Arkansas Derby and Triple Crown winner American Pharoah looking to close out his career with a victory in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. Reservations will be available in the Post Parade and Oaklawn Club for Saturday, Oct. 31.

Oaklawn remains the headquarters for everything football throughout October. Fans can watch all their favorite college teams on Saturdays with ESPN Game Plan and enjoy $2 drafts from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. On Sundays, there will be $2 drafts from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and fans can watch the NFL teams go head-to-head as well as the Gridiron Challenge. There are free tacos and $2 drafts in Pop’s Lounge from 6 p.m. to halftime during the Monday night game and also another chance at the Gridiron Challenge.

Reel Tournaments will be held every Monday afternoon and Tuesday evenings during October. Guests can play in the $1,500 2-Minute Drill Tournament every Monday starting at 7 p.m. and stick around for the Monday night football game. Guests can come back Tuesday evening for the $2,000 Mad Money tournament starting at 7 p.m.

Every Wednesday, Oaklawn will offer Karaoke with a spooky twist. Singers can take part in Scary-Oke and battle it out for a share of $5,000. Singers will have to put on a show and face the “Wheel of Death.” Then, if they advance to the finals, there could be one of the lucky winners. There will also be half priced drinks in Pop’s Lounge from 7 – 11 p.m.

Guests will have the chance to play for cash prizes every Thursday during the $20,000 Journey to Dracula’s Castle promotion from 6 – 10 p.m. Winners will be called every 15 minutes throughout the evening.

Lagniappes restaurant offers a Barbeque special where guests can choose from either chicken or brisket every Wednesday from 5 – 10 p.m. Every Friday from 5 – 10 p.m. it’s Steak Night where guests can enjoy a steak voted one of the best in Hot Springs or if they prefer, the catch of the day.
