Hot Springs, Ark. (Wednesday, July 22, 2015) – Oaklawn will offer several fun and exciting ways to beat the heat this August. Highlighted by a concert in the Finish Line Theater, there will also be four chances to win at trip to Las Vegas up for grabs the weekend of Aug. 8 & 9 and a chance to win $100,000 every Thursday during the month.

The popular Finish Line Theater series continues Aug. 28 with the Happy Together Tour. This great night of music brings together six of the most popular rock bands of the 60s and 70s: The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, The Association, Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders, The Grass Roots, The Buckinghams and The Cowsills. Tickets go on sale Aug. 17 and will be $40 and $55. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Guests have had all summer to qualify for the $1 million TournEvent during the Summer of Champions Reel Tournaments and it will finally be time to cash in their golden passes Saturday, Aug. 8 and Sunday, Aug. 9. Players will have the opportunity to play for their chance to win one of two all-expense paid trips to Las Vegas and $1 million. The finals will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. There will be over 100 cash prize winners.

August will be an exciting month for horseplayers. First, Arkansas Derby and Triple Crown winner American Pharoah makes his first start since the Belmont Stakes in the $1 million Haskell Invitational Sunday, Aug. 2 at Monmouth Park. Oaklawn will celebrate his return with free American Pharoah posters while supplies last and a special Haskell Day Twin Quin. The following weekend, the top handicappers in the region will compete in the $10,000 Handicapping Championship Final Saturday, Aug. 8 and Sunday, Aug. 9. The entry fee is $200 and the contest will take place in the Carousel Restaurant starting at 11 a.m. The top two finishers will receive prize money and at trip to Las Vegas to compete in the Horse Players World Series at the Orleans Hotel & Casino March 31- April 2, 2016.

Later in August, Oaklawn celebrates the start of the footballs season with the $20,000 Pigskin Palooza Saturday, Aug. 15. Guests will want to make sure their email addresses are on file at the Winners Circle desk because entries will only be sent out via email. There will be cash and prizes, including Dallas Cowboy tickets, Razorback Football tickets and 60” Flat Screen TVs, awarded from noon – 4 p.m. and 7 – 11 p.m.

Every Thursday in August, guests will have a chance to play for $100,000 during the Tri Lakes Treasure Hunt from 6 – 10 p.m. with winners every 15 minutes. All month long, patrons can earn valuable entries into the $250,000 Secret Agent Showdown Sept. 5. Players can earn up to 30 entries each week.
Lagniappes restaurant offers a Barbeque special where guests can choose from either chicken or brisket every Wednesday from 5 – 10 p.m. Every Friday from 5 – 10 p.m. it’s Steak Night where guests can enjoy a steak voted one of the best in Hot Springs or if they prefer, the catch of the day.
