Hot Springs, Ark. (Thursday, Jan. 28, 2015) – Oaklawn Racing & Gaming has been voted Best Racetrack/Racino in the Mid-South region of the United States by readers of Southern Gaming and Destinations magazine. This recognition comes shortly after Oaklawn was voted Best Casino/Gaming Center by the readers of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette during their annual Best of the Best awards for 2014.
Oaklawn, which opened for its 111th race meet Jan. 15, completed a $20 million expansion to its gaming center in late December. This expansion, the second in five years, includes hundreds of new gaming terminals, the Silks Bar & Grill, Bistro 2705, a High Limits section and a new Poker area. The live race meet, highlighted by the $1 million Arkansas Derby closing day, continues through Saturday, April 11.
“This award is the reflection of a lot of hard work and dedication by our entire staff,” said General Manger Eric Jackson. “We are particularly proud to receive this recognition during a year when our entire gaming operation was under construction. We had challenged all of our Team Members to help make Oaklawn the cleanest, safest, friendliest, and most fun entertainment venue in our region and they obviously met and exceeded all our expectations.”
