Bruce Jones Promoted to Assistant Gaming Manager
HOT SPRINGS, AR (Monday, Oct.1, 2012) – In response to a record-setting year and steady growth throughout the entire company, Oaklawn has promoted Bruce Jones to the newly created position of Assistant Gaming Manager. Jones’ appointment follows a nationwide search for someone to help oversee the entire gaming operation, while aiding in the company’s continued growth.
Jones joined Oaklawn in 2008 as Director of Gaming Technical Maintenance and has been instrumental in implementing new games, keeping all games up and running and helping other properties establish gaming centers with Instant Racing machines. Prior to coming to Oaklawn, Jones was Director of Business Development for the EAST Initiative, a national educational-technology non-profit organization; and served as Chairman of the Engineering and Computer Science Department at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Memphis, and an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis.
Outside of Oaklawn, Jones serves on the State Board of Directors for the American Red Cross and is active in his church, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife Theresa, who teaches pre-K at Head Start of Hot Springs, have three children, BJ, Nicholas and Erica.

Since July, Oaklawn has filled 10 management level positions and of these, seven were promotions of current employees. These promotions have been company-wide and include Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Marketing, Human Resources and Gaming.
“Oaklawn has always tried to promote from within before looking outside the company, but it is particularly satisfying to be able to fill these key positions internally,” said Eric Jackson, Oaklawn’s General Manager. “We have enjoyed tremendous success in both gaming and racing the last few years and we feel confident that we have the right people in place for even further growth.”
