  • Chris Hartman comes from a racing family. His grandfather, father and mother all trained at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona. He also has two brothers that train. Hartman got his trainer’s license at age 18 and won his first race that same year at Prescott Downs in Prescott, Arizona.
  • Hartman had another solid year in 2016, finishing second in the standings with 26 wins. Alsvid continued to be his stable star, picking up two stakes victories at Churchill Downs and a third in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby at Del Mar. In his first meet at Southern California track, Hartman finished among the top 20 trainers.
  • His stable has had much success in recent years and put Chris near the top of the trainer standings at several different tracks, including Oaklawn, Churchill Downs, Remington Park and Prairie Meadows. In 2015, he earned his first Oaklawn title and Alvid, winner of the 2015 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (G3), took him to his first Breeders’ Cup.
  • Hartman earned his first graded stakes victory in 2011 when Schramsberg scored in the John B. Connally Turf Cup (G3) at Sam Houston. Another standout includes: Read Lead, winner of the Sunland Park Handicap and more than $800,000 in earnings.
