THE WEEKLY FANTASY RACING CHALLENGE IS NOW SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

While we don't know the ultimate destination of the Weekly Fantasy Racing Challenge, it is time to say a few thanks for the good times.  Weekly Fantasy Racing Challenge always hoped that our players would become better players by figuring out who was hot and who was not, using that knowledge to improve their success at handicapping.  We have seen some great moments at the WFRC.  There were also weeks when our choices turned out not to be "so hot".  But, to the end, this has been a fine contest and the best FREE opportunity for horseplayers to play a real contest with real prizes on the Internet.  We hope you've had fun and we hope that we can see you again in the future.  If we get back on the Oaklawn website, we'll be sure to advise you well in advance that we're coming back.

There are a lot of great moments ahead for horseplayers around the country during the rest of the year.  Quality matchups will occur on a regular basis through the summer and on into Breeders' Cup week.  At Oaklawn we have already started looking ahead to 2011, in hopes of making it our greatest year ever.  It will be hard to top some of the moments in recent memory, including the appearance here by Zenyatta in the Apple Blossom Invitational and the successes of runners like Smarty Jones, Afleet Alex, Curlin, Lawyer Ron, Rachel Alexandra, Azeri and others of the past decade.  But we love the challenge and look forward to having you with us for that great season.

One thing our office learned in the final weeks of this competition was that many of you had caught on.  You are the pros and have been submitting entries which were very similar.  Obviously, you knew who was hot and stuck with it.

This week, once again, we had just one winner, Wayne Webster of Ft. Wright, Kentucky.  Chuck King of Townsend, Massachusetts, finished second, although he was eight points behind our winner.  Wayne's team included jockeys Paco Lopez (19 points), Corey Lanerie (32 points), Don Simington (34 points) and Martin Escobar (37 points), along with trainers Patrick Biancone (8 points), Greg Foley (10 points), Allen Milligan (29 points) and Danny Pish (16 points), for a total of 185 points.  Chuck's squad included uocksy Lanerie, Simington, Escobar and James Graham (14 points), combined with trainers Foley, Milligan, Pish and Michelle Lovell (6 points), for 178.  The best-possible score for the weekend would have been 197 points and included jockeys Escobar, Simington, Lanerie and Ramon Dominguez (28 points), along with trainers Milligan, Pish, Foley and Dale Romans (11 points).  What the weekend showed us was just how dominant Dominguez is in New York, that he can miss an entire day like Saturday, then strike back with a vengeance on Sunday.  At Belmont Park he is understandably the most popular jockey.

Our final monthly winner, who will receive the Apple Blossom poster, is Charlie Pachtler of Strongsville, Ohio, who finished the month with a 13-point edge over Kim Koran of Woodstock, Georgia.  Congratulations to Charlie and all our players for a great effort and a lot of fun.

We've had a great time with you over the years and look forward to coming back sometime in the future.  Watch the Oaklawn website for any announcements.

DON'T FORGET!!  THE WEEKLY FANTASY RACING CHALLENGE IS NOW SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Good luck
